Learn about the first inhabitants of the Lehigh Valley. This six-week class covers the Lenape culture, food, horticulture, contributions to modern foods, examination of sacred sites and landscapes, and exploring the mystery of trail trees.

Nurturing and Flourishing in Nursing

This continuing education seminar will focus on behavior that jeopardizes collaboration, morale, retention and the bottom line in many healthcare organizations. Following a keynote presentation delivered by Mary Pat Szutenbach, PhD, RN, CNS and author of “Bullying in Nursing: Roots, Rationales and Remedies there will be presentations on mindfulness and how to change a work environment from toxic to positive. RNs attending the conference are eligible to obtain 7.0 contact hours.

Trending in Healthcare: How It’s Connected to You

Keynote speaker Hisham Abu-Nabba, director of Healthcare Systems Engineering, Lehigh University, will discuss designing tomorrow’s healthcare systems and trends impacting the industry. Forensics, a need for public health dental hygienist practitioners, and the challenges of regulatory standards will also be covered.

November 14:
An Hour with author Elva Treviño Hart
In her award-winning book, “Barefoot Heart: Stories of a Migrant Child,” this daughter of migrant workers captures the struggles of the day-to-day existence of those who work the fields while encountering an environment hostile to those not literate in English. Hart holds a master’s degree from Stanford and worked for 20 years in computer science/engineering, before leaving the corporate world to become a storyteller.
