Miller-Keystone Blood Center is pleased to invite Lehigh Valley Happening to our next Celebrate Hope event, where we will be reuniting a local transfusion recipient with some of the actual blood donors responsible for saving her life.
In 2003, Megan Bower of Allentown –then a young mother with children aged 4 and 1 – developed a condition referred to as TTP (Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura). This is a rare blood disorder in which blood clots form in small blood vessels throughout the body. The clots can limit or block the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the body’s organs, such as the brain, kidneys, and heart. As a result, serious health problems can develop. During the course of her care, Mrs. Bower received more than 600 plasma, red cell and platelet transfusions.
On Wednesday, October 11, 4:00 pm at Lehigh Country Club (Cedar Crest Boulevard, Allentown), we will be introducing Mrs. Bower to approximately 35 of the blood donors whose generosity directly saved her life.
Attached is a copy of the invitation for our Celebrate Hope event. We sincerely hope that someone from Lehigh Valley Happening will be able to join us that day for a story of incredible impact. Mrs. Bower, her family, and the blood donors will be available for interview before and after the reunion takes place.
