The Lehigh Valley’s own Disney darling, Sabrina Carpenter, will headline Musikfest Aug. 12, 7:30 p.m., when she performs at the festival’s Sands Steel Stage. Tickets are available at www.musikfest.org and 610-332-3378.
A native of Lower Milford Township, Carpenter is best known for her role as Maya Hart in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World, a sequel to the 1993-2000 ABC series Boy Meets World. She is featured on the show’s theme song, “Take on the World,” which also features co-star Rowan Blanchard.
Carpenter has performed several songs for Disney, including “Smile” for the album Disney Fairies: Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust, “All You Need” for the Sofia the First soundtrack and “Stand Out” for the Disney Channel Original Movie How to Build a Better Boy.
Carpenter’s debut album, Eyes Wide Open, was released in April 2015, debuting at No. 43 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The recording, which has had more than 33 million combined streams on Spotify, features the tracks “We’ll Be the Stars” and “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying,” the latter of which won the Best Crush Song award at the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards.
At the 2016 Radio Disney Music Awards, Carpenter performed “Smoke and Fire,” while also taking home the award for Best Anthem for her song “Eyes Wide Open.” She also starred in the Disney Channel movie Adventures in Babysitting alongside Descendants star Sofia Carson. The movie is based on the 1987 film of the same name, and premiered on the Disney Channel in June.
The Sabrina Carpenter show is supported by media partner B104. One of the largest music festivals in the nation, Musikfest features more than 500 performances on 16 stages throughout Bethlehem over 10 days. Dates for the 33rd edition of the festival are Aug. 5-14.
