THIS WEEK’S VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY

COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown needs “Earn-a-Bike” instructors for children ages 9-17.  Volunteers will mentor and assist children in repairing bicycles.  Commitment is 6-8pm one night a week for 12 weeks.  No experience necessary.  Training provided.  Call James Williams, 610-434-1140, james@communitybikeworks.org.

EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers (14+) to help as horse handlers or side helpers to assist the riding instructor and/or therapist in carrying out the riders’ Individual Program Plan.  Other volunteer opportunities are available such as office work, general barn assistance, fund raising, mailings, etc.   Training dates are 7/9, 8/13, 9/10, and 10/15.  Call Yvonne Darlington, 610-365-2266, volunteercoordinator@equi-librium.org.

FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem – Teacher Store volunteers needed!  Help provide free school supplies to area educators.  Seated and standing positions available.  Must be friendly, reliable, and professional.  Volunteers needed 2:45-6pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Training given at the beginning of shift.  Ages 12-17 years must be accompanied with parent.  Call Kristen Mills, 610-419-9356 x4503, kristen.mills@feedthechildren.org.

MEALS ON WHEELS OF NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, Bethlehem is seeking meal delivery volunteers (18+years).  Volunteer daily or as little as twice each month or daily, according to your availability.  Volunteers must possess a valid driver’s license and have car insurance.  Application process includes criminal background check, orientation, and on-the-road training.  Call Janet Soos, 610-691-1030 x18, janets@mealsonwheelspa.org.

SACRED HEART HOSPITAL, Allentown needs reliable, friendly volunteers for the Hospital Gift Shop.  Duties include light stocking, customer assistance, and completing sales.  Weekdays, evenings, and weekend shifts available.  Training provided.  Call Beth Fogel, 610-776-5413, bfogel@shh.org.

SHARECARE FAITH IN ACTION, Bethlehem is looking for volunteer drivers (18+ years) to safely transport people who are elderly and/or disabled to and from doctor appointments and with grocery shopping in the Lehigh Valley.  Volunteers are also needed to help others who can’t get out on their own through visitation, socializing, and taking them out of their home environment.  All volunteers are asked to attend a 2 hour orientation/training.  Call Lynn Heiney, 610-867-2177, sharecare8@aol.com.

THE PERFECT FIT, Allentown is looking for fashion-savvy volunteers to help low-income women choose appropriate and professional outfits.  Should love working with people; have patience, enthusiasm, and a love of fashion and how it can positively impact and empower women.  Other duties include sorting, tagging clothing donations, and keeping boutique organized and appealing.  Light lifting required, must be able to stand for approx. 3 hours, and be knowledgeable about current style and business casual clothing trends.  Call Heidi Lennick, 610-871-5060, manager@theperfectfit.org.
