THIS WEEK’S VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY
DAVINCI SCIENCE CENTER, Allentown is looking for Exhibit Floor Volunteers. Volunteers will be running science demonstrations at Inquiry Island, facilitating marine tank activities, and assisting on the exhibit floor. Volunteers should enjoy working with people and have an interest in learning how to engage groups and families in science experiments. EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers to assist with summer camp for children and adults with and without disabilities. Campers do horse related activities and ride horses. Camp weeks run June 20-24, July 11-15, July 25-29, and August 15-19, Monday through Friday 9am till 12 noon. Training is June 11 from 12:30-3:30pm at the farm. GRACEDALE NURSING HOME, Nazareth is taking applications for their summer youth program. High school students (14+ years or entering the 9th grade) volunteer Mon-Fri. between 9am-3pm helping with activities, escorting residents to appointments within the facility, and doing friendly visits with residents. HISTORIC BETHLEHEM MUSEUMS & SITES has several volunteer opportunities available. Day-to-day volunteering can include (but not limited to) Visitor Center, Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts, Moravian Museum of Bethlehem, and Burnside Plantation (site clean-up, greeter, docent/tour guide, administrative support). LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksville is recruiting volunteers to be Docents and Zoo Teens. Docents (18+ years) share information about animals and are assigned to an interactive exhibit. A minimum of 24 hours per month must be completed. Zoo Teens (14+ years, 13 with adult) enthusiastically engage and educate a diverse multi-generational audience with facts about wildlife species, conservation, and environmental issues. MAYFAIR, INC, Allentown needs volunteers to ensure the success of the 2016 Mayfair Festival in the Events Center at The Allentown Fairgrounds, Friday, May 27 to Monday, May 30. Work 2 shifts and receive a commemorative pin, a t-shirt, $5 Festival Food Tickets per shift, and a ticket for free entry so you can come back and enjoy the rest of the Festival. SHARECARE FAITH IN ACTION, Bethlehem is looking for volunteer drivers (18+ years) to safely transport people who are elderly and/or disabled to and from doctor appointments and with grocery shopping in the Lehigh Valley. Volunteers are also needed to help others who can’t get out on their own through visitation, socializing, and taking them out of their home environment.
