Follow the star to Bethlehem this January as SteelStacks celebrates El Dia de los Reyes (Three Kings Day), the cherished religious and cultural tradition of many Latin American countries. The annual Three Kings Celebration, which is free and open to the public, will take place Jan. 3, 2-6 p.m., at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem.
During the Three Kings Celebration, children are encouraged to throw on their best cloak and crown to dress up as their favorite king for the “Best Dressed King” contest, judged by The Three Kings. Kids can also take part in a variety of fun-filled activities including games, making their own crown and a scavenger hunt, while enjoying live music provided by Los Pleneros USA and Herencia Jibara. The Three Kings—Gaspar, Melchior and Balthazar—will arrive during the event to spend time with children and their families, presenting gifts graciously donated by PPL Corporation, B. Braun Medical Inc. and West Side Hammer Electric to children ages 10 and under. Holy Infancy Catholic Church will be providing delicious Latin food, available for purchase
The Three Kings Celebration is a cultural program of ArtsQuest’s Latino Community Advisory Committee, comprised of leaders from the Lehigh Valley’s Latino community. The Three Kings’ gowns and costumes were designed and created by Pamela Ptak, the Riegelsville-based designer who appeared on Season 7 of the hit TV show Project Runway. Media partner for this event is La Ola Radio.
