Rick LavoieParents and educational professionals are invited to discover motivational strategies for students as award-winning speaker Rick Lavoie presents “The Motivation Breakthrough: Secrets to Turning On the Tuned-Out Child,” Oct. 11, 8:30 a.m.-noon at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. Registration for the event, presented by The Hillside School, is $100 per person and may be done by completing and mailing in the official registration form available at hillsideschool.org. Registration deadline is Oct. 1; discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.

Lavoie’s acclaimed workshop is geared towards parents of children with learning challenges, as well educators and school administrators, speech and language therapists, health care professionals, social workers and psychologists. Lavoie’s innovative educational model, which has been featured in USA Today and on NBC’s TODAY Show, demonstrates specific strategies to increase motivation in students. Registration fees include a continental breakfast and complimentary book signing by Lavoie. A popular author, educator and speaker on the subject of learning disabilities, Lavoie has spoken to more than 500,000 parents and professionals throughout North America. He holds three degrees in special education and has served as an adjunct professor or visiting lecturer at numerous universities in addition to holding administrative positions at residential programs for 30 years. Lavoie has delivered the keynote addresses for three advocacy organizations – Learning Disabilities Association, Council for Exceptional Children and Children with Attention Deficit Disorder.
