The community is invited to join actress, comedian and Nazareth native Kate Micucci for two special screenings and talkbacks on her new film “Don’t Think Twice” on Sept. 1 at 7:30 and 8:15 p.m. at the ArtsQuest Center’s Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas at SteelStacks. Tickets are $15 and on sale now at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.
Don’t Think Twice follows a popular New York City improv troupe that struggles with the concept of failure as one member gets cast on a hit TV show. Directed by stand-up comedian Mike Birbiglia, the film stars Keegan-Michael Key of “Key & Peele,” Gillian Jacobs of “Community,” Chris Gethard of “Broad City,” Tami Sagher of “Girls” and Micucci.
Best known for her work with partner Riki Lindhome in the comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates, Micucci started her career at Upright Citizens Brigade theatre in Los Angeles and has since appeared on TV in “Raising Hope,” “Scrubs,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Steven Universe” and will next be seen in the NBC Pilot “Powerless.”
Following the film screenings, Micucci will answer questions about her work and Don’t Think Twice, which has been lauded by NPR’s Andrew Lapin as “alternately hysterical and heartbreaking.” Michael Phillips of The Chicago Tribune called Don’t Think Twice “One of the best films of the year: Genuinely sharp, funny and bracingly honest.”
