The Irish Comedy Tour   March 14th Musikfest Cafe

The Irish Comedy Tour takes the party atmosphere of a Dublin pub and combines it with a boisterous, belly-laugh trio.

The clover — make that clever — comedians, whose ancestors hail from the Emerald Isle, include Detroit native Derek Richards; Boston-born Mike McCarthy; and from Dublin, Ireland Keith Aherne. Audiences howl at Richards’ tales about his mom’s dog, the holidays and dating a stripper. He has appeared on The Bob & Tom Show, XM and Sirius, and The Weather Channel’s Top 10. McCarthy’s n0-holds-barred humor has landed him on Comedy Central and Showtime. The “comedy barbarian,” as he calls himself, takes no prisoners when it comes to poking fun at society’s most sensitive topics. And finally Aherne, who has performed with many of his home country’s favorite acts, including comedian Brendan Grace and The Dublin City Ramblers, will add authentic Irish music to the show.

All active duty, retired military personnel, and first responders can purchase one ticket to this show and get one free. Offer only valid in person at the ArtsQuest Center or Banana Factory. Valid ID may need to be shown. This offer is presented by Embassy Bank..

West End St. Patrick’s Day 5k

Join us on Sunday, March 18, 2012, for the fourth annual West End St. Patrick’s Day 5k in one of Allentown’s most charming neighborhoods.

You’ll run the same course as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and get cheered on by hundreds of people lining the streets and partying in their front yards.  A fantastic run. A spectacular event.   Registration is closed with a record number of entries. Thank you, runners!

Then hang around after the awards for the Allentown St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the largest in the Lehigh Valley. Enjoy marching bands, entertainers, local groups and much more. The parade starts at 1:30 p.m. and will pass the race start/finish area by about 2 p.m. It’s an ideal post-race event for your family.

Proceeds from the race benefit the West End Alliance, a not-for-profit organization of neighbors and merchants dedicated toward the continued emergence of Allentown’s West End Theatre District.
