THIS WEEK’S VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY

CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem needs volunteers for their Annual Boutique at the Rink, a sale of new and gently used items.  Help set up May 2-27 – Mondays & Wednesdays 9am-7pm and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 9am-1pm.  Volunteers are needed to work a 4 hour shift on Sales Days: May 31-3:30-9:30pm, June 1, 2, 3 -9:30am-8:30pm, and June 4 7:30am-3:30pm.  Sign up on their website www.cancersupportglv.org or via email boutiqueattherink@gmail.com.

CENTER FOR CAREER PATHWAYS AND LITRACY, LCCC Schnecksville, needs tutors for their adult education literacy program.  Tutors are needed for Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and English as a Second Language. Tutoring is 3 hours per week.  Days and times are flexible based on volunteer’s schedule.  Orientation scheduled for Wednesday, 5/11 at 1pm and Thursday, 5/12 at 6pm.  Call Allison Ludlow, 610-799-1216, volunteertutor@lccc.edu.

DAVINCI SCIENCE CENTER, Allentown is looking for Exhibit Floor Volunteers.  Volunteers will be running science demonstrations at Inquiry Island, facilitating marine tank activities, and assisting on the exhibit floor.  These volunteers should enjoy working with people and have an interest in learning how to engage groups and families in science experiments.  Volunteers are also needed for Summer Camp from June 20-August 26.  Contact Joan Amaya, 484-664-1002, joan@davincisciencecenter.org.

EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth – Volunteers (14+ years) needed to assist with Summer Camp for children and adults with/without disabilities.  Campers do horse related activities and ride horses.  Weeks are divided by age groups (youngest to adults).  Camp weeks are June 20-24, July 11-15, July 25-29, and August 15-19 Monday through Friday 9 am-12noon.  Training scheduled May 14 or June 11 from 12:30-3:30 at the farm.  Call Yvonne Darlington, 610-365-2266, volunteercoordinator@equi-librium.org.

GOOD SHEPHERD REHABILITATION NETWORK, Allentown is recruiting volunteers for their Gift Shop to complete sales, restock/straighten merchandise, and assist customers.  Also looking for volunteers to assist with Community Entry Outings for Inpatients and Outpatients.  Volunteer needs to be able to walk distances and feel comfortable providing supervision of patients with physical and cognitive impairments.  Call JoAnn Frey, 610-776-3125, jfrey@gsrh.org

HISTORIC BETHLEHEM MUSEUMS & SITES is in need of volunteers to help at our Community Day on Saturday, May 14 from 10am-4pm (or split shifts 10am-1pm and/or 1-4pm).  Greeters are needed in the Spring Street parking lot directing visitors to the Community Day festivities in the Colonial Industrial Quarter (near our Blacksmith Shop, Waterworks, Tannery, and the Luckenbach Mill).   Call Michelle Stern, 610-691-6055, mstern@historicbethlehem.org

MILLER-KEYSTONE BLOOD CENTER, Bethlehem is looking for Canteen Attendants at their Allentown site located at 1255 S. Cedar Crest Blvd, Suite 1300 every Saturday from 10am-1pm.  Canteen attendants monitor blood donors after their donations, ensure donors are feeling well before leaving the site, and serve drinks/snacks to our donors.  Orientations will be held.  Call Janice Brown, 610-691-5850, jbrown@giveapint.org

THE SALVATION ARMY CHILDREN’S SERVICES, Allentown is looking for volunteers to help with their 5th Annual Rock N Run 4Kids 10k, 5k, and Kids Fun Run at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday, May 21 from 7:30am-11:30am.  Positions include marshals, cheer zones, photography, face painting, musicians, dance teams, registration assistants, hospitality helpers, and much more!  No training or special requirements.  Call Jan Musser Geier, 610-821-7706, jan.mussergeier@use.salvationarmy.org
