Allentown Band Concert & Fireworks Highlight Independence Day Celebration at SteelStacks July 4-5

A free Allentown Band concert, fireworks and the new Rosie the Riveter 5k are among the highlights of the fifth-annual Independence Day Celebration presented by Embassy Bank July 4-5 at SteelStacks.  All events and activities during the two-day celebration of our nation’s birth, with the exception of the 5k, are free to attend.

On July 4, 7:30 p.m., at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks, the community is invited to experience the timeless music of the Allentown Band.  The oldest civilian concert band in the U.S., the Allentown Band has played a continuously active role in the musical life and cultural fabric of the community.  On July 4th, they will dazzle the audience with their diverse sounds ranging from opera-infused overtures to compositions influenced by the music of John Philip Sousa.  Bethlehem’s popular fireworks show will follow the band’s performance.

The Independence Day Celebration continues July 5 with the inaugural Rosie the Riveter 5k at 9:30 a.m.  The event ends with a backyard BBQ on the Air Products Town Square featuring live music by Andy Kilcoyne on the TD Community Stage, food and games.  Registration fee is $35 and a portion of the proceeds will go to support ArtsQuest and its free programming for the region. Registrations can be made at rosietheriveter5k.itsyourrace.com/register/.

Other Independence Day Celebration activities and events include a Kids Play Tennis activity and Sprinkler Party on the Levitt Pavilion Lawn as part of the Peas and Qs Family Series July 4, 11:30 a.m., as well as free music by artists such as the Deb Callahan Band and Mason Porter July 4 and Sing for America, Hoochie Coochie Men and The Aardvarks July 5.
