Barn RaisingBarn raising was a celebrated tradition on Pennsylvania’s farms. Farmers and their families gathered together and helped one another build strong barns and strong communities.

Children and adults will work together this Saturday, September 21st at the Burnside Plantation’s Historic Hay loft and raise a kid’s size barn using period joinery techniques, and cooperation.  Stop by anytime between 10am and 1pm to help build a special kid size barn!  Afterward all are invited to celebrate. Festivities include learning how to square and great music. Dressed in authentic attire, dance teachers will guide participants in an authentic hoedown. Finally, enjoy snacks prepared from authentic 19th century recipes.
