According to Sean Tinney, Director of Marketing, the “Love of Life” event recognizes Valentine’s Day, which is celebrated on February 14.

“We’re encouraging all blood donors to join us and bring along their spouse, significant other or a friend, and to take a ‘selfie’ while donating,” he says. “They can post their photos on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook and tag the Blood Center or use the #GIVEaPINT hashtag.”

The day will also include appearances by B104 personalities Kyle (from 8:00am-11:00am) and Mike & Steph (from 11:00am-2:00pm), delectable treats from Berks Foods, Vallos Bakery, Unique Pretzels, Kyms Creations, and more.

Winter is traditionally a difficult time to recruit blood donors, explains Marie Clemens, Corporate Director of Communications.

“Seasonal illnesses and inclement weather often prevent people from donating blood in the winter,” notes Clemens. “The recent increase in influenza cases has forced many individuals to postpone their appointments, and snow storms have forced the cancellation of multiple bloodmobile drives. However, 450 donors are needed every day to meet the demands of accident victims, premature infants, cancer patients, and others requiring life-saving blood transfusions in our community hospitals. Blood is perishable, and there is no substitute – the only source is the volunteer blood donor.”

“Miller-Keystone Blood Center is extremely grateful to iHeartMedia for their ongoing support of our mission,” says Tinney. “We encourage all eligible donors to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life at this, or any community blood drive this month.”

Miller-Keystone Blood Center’s operating hours on February 11 are 6:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Individuals registering to donate outside of the 8am-4pm “Love of Life” hours will still be eligible for any of the day’s raffle prize drawings.
