The Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley is hosting its 7th annual Volunteer Challenge on Tuesday, May 24, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. The event is the organization’s largest fundraiser.
The Volunteer Challenge encourages businesses across the valley to complete community service projects for Lehigh Valley nonprofit organizations, parks and elementary schools.
All projects will be on display (and open for voting) at the event. Awards will be presented to a small, medium and large company, based on voting by the public. Online voting closes at noon May 24. Votes are $1 each and sold in increments of five, and you can vote by visiting www.volunteerlv.org.
Currently twenty-four area companies – small, medium and large – are partnering with local nonprofits to complete a sustainable volunteer project as part of the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley’s Volunteer Challenge.
“We are thrilled to have so many companies participating in this year’s Volunteer Challenge,” said Karen Smith, vice president of programs / corporate at the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. “It’s a win-win-win. The company wins for its employee volunteerism and corporate citizenship, the nonprofit wins for the fulfillment of a sustainable project, and the Volunteer Center wins through proceeds generated through the Volunteer Challenge Celebration.”
