11731584_10152893470241401_79251779253129861_oFor children entering grades 3 through 10, the spirit of team work and volunteerism is alive on The Gress Mountain Ranch. Local youth in the Lehigh Valley are seeking $200 sponsorships to attend Ranch Camp, a personal growth and educational summer experience on a working ranch in Orefield, PA. Held over the course of three, week-long summer sessions starting in June, Ranch Camp features activities including horsemanship, alpaca-felting, donkey cart rides, scavenger hunts, yoga, and more. Ranch Camp promotes the healthy interdependence of humans and animals, and models this for the community at large.

“Weekly, approximately 25 campers are afforded opportunities to shadow a practicing, professional veterinarian, and learn about responsible pet ownership while building communication and leadership skills,” according to President and Founder, Kathryn Gress, “however, there are currently 20 children in our local schools in need of financial assistance.”

Individuals, organizations and businesses are encouraged to sponsor local students interested in attending Ranch Camp, and may determine the application process by which recipients are selected. Any funds collected through generous donations and program fees serve to offset the costs of purchasing food and supplies for the campers, and the ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation of abandoned and neglected animals throughout the summer season.
