Send yourself on your way to the Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling this spring as Pittsburgh’s Rusted Root performs April 1 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $18-$30 and are available at www.steelstacks.org and 610-332-3378.
Formed in the early ‘90s by singer/guitarist Michael Glabicki, Rusted Root’s worldly style quickly charmed fans of roots music and world rock. After its self-released album Cruel Sun, the band signed with Mercury Records and released the 1994 platinum selling album “When I Woke,” featuring the massive hits “Send Me on My Way,” “Ecstasy” and “Martyr.”
Rusted Root’s music has been featured on numerous film and TV soundtracks, including Twister, Mathilda, Home for the Holidays, Party of Five, Charmed, Homicide and Ice Age. NASA engineers even chose “Send Me on My Way” as their official “wake-up” song for the Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity for Sol 21. The group has toured with high-profile acts like Santana, The Grateful Dead, Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Jimmy Page/Robert Plant and more.
