NBC10 / WCAU and the Lehigh Valley Mall will host a Severe Winter Weather Day Thursday, November 17.  NBC10 First Alert Weather Team will visit with StormRanger10, the only X-band, dual polarized, Doppler Radar system on wheels.

“As we start to see falling temperatures, it’s important for us to inform the public on how best to prepare for winter weather,” said Ric Harris, President and General Manager of NBC10 and Telemundo62. “We are excited to partner with Simon Malls for this weeklong tour throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. We look forward to engaging with the community and invite them to come meet our team and learn about the tools they use to forecast the weather for every neighborhood.”

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to interact with the NBC10 First Alert Weather team; take an inside look at the new StormRanger10, NBC10’s one-of-a-kind, mobile Doppler radar system; receive giveaways and obtain critical tips for severe winter weather preparedness.

In the summer of 2016, all 209 of Simon’s Regional Malls (including The Lehigh Valley Mall), The Mills and Premium Outlets were awarded the designation of being “StormReady®” by The National Weather Service. With this designation, the malls are equipped to handle all types of severe and potentially life-threatening weather situations through use of hazardous weather training, rapid communications infrastructures and community outreach with local hotels and businesses to establish emergency services and supplies. As a StormReady® property, the malls can keep employees and customers safe in the event of a weather emergency.

The two leaders in weather-readiness are partnering to share their knowledge with the Lehigh Valley, hosting Severe Winter Weather Day at the StormReady^® Lehigh Valley Mall, 250 Lehigh Valley Mall, Whitehall, PA from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
