If you haven’t been there you’ve surely heard the accolades of Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square PA. Although beautiful throughout the year, seems like holiday and Longwood go hand in hand. Why not see for yourself what all the talk is about! It’s time to experience the magic that will no doubt propel you into the holiday spirit just in case you haven’t had time to catch it yet!
To make the most of your visit and avoid disappointment make note that you must buy an advance ticket online, as timed tickets are sold to avoid too many people in the gardens at once. Arriving late day allows some daylight viewing and the chance to wind through the main observatory, which is so magnificent, and then emerge in the darkness to witness the spectacle of light in the night along the pathways and gardens.
Plan ahead for reservations if you intend to eat in The Terrace restaurant on the grounds. If indeed you cannot be accommodated a great choice just a short drive down the road is The Gables, a contemporary restaurant in a charming converted barn. If you like loud dining rooms, good wine selections, contemporary cuisine with a French twist, in a modern yet rustic environment, you will love the Gables!
Here’s a glimpse into the the blend of art, nature, and light that is Longwood Gardens! Enjoy!
