Lehigh Valley Story Slam will be held 7:00pm on Wednesday, February 15 at Easton Public Market, located at 325 Northampton St. in Easton, PA. The theme of the event is “Best Friends.” Storytellers from Easton and beyond will be competing head-to-head for the title of “Best Storyteller in the Lehigh Valley.”

While the Lehigh Valley Story Slam is a competition, be assured the competitive part isn’t taken too seriously. This a fun night of stories for the audience, and new participants are welcome to hop on-stage. The best advice is this: Know the first sentence of your story and know the last sentence of your story. If you know where you are starting and have your destination in sight, you’ll do just fine.

Storytellers register upon arrival. Names are drawn out of a hat to decide order of presentation. Stories should fit into the theme of the night. They should be true as you remember it and under five minutes in length. No notes, props or music is allowed.

Three judges are present. Each storyteller is given a score on a scale of 1-10 for three different criteria: content, presentation and time. The storyteller with the highest score wins a trophy and is given a spot in November’s Grand Slam.

Chris Singleheart will emcee the event, and two guest storytellers will be telling their best. Tickets can be purchased for a one-time-only special price of $8 at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2800853 or at the door. For more info, visit lehighvalleystoryslam.com.
