BaconNEW ‘BACONTOPIA’ EVENT NOV. 10 AT STEELSTACKS
Event will raise funds for ArtsQuest’s Arts Education Programs for Youth

No it’s not Kevin Bacon!  Bacon lovers from near and far are invited to unite in celebration of their favorite meat at the first-annual “Bacontopia: A Celebration of Bacon,” Nov. 10, 1-4 p.m., at the ArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. Tickets for the event, a fund-raiser for ArtsQuest’s Arts Education Programming Fund, are $35 and on sales to the public. They’ll be available at artsquest.org and 610-332-3378.

At Bacontopia, bacon aficionados will enjoy a sizzling Sunday filled with delicious bacon dishes including Sweet & Spicy Roasted Bacon, Bacon Fries, Bacon Breakfast Napoleon, Cream of Bacon Soup, Bacon Burger Sliders and Spicy Pork Belly. For those with a sweet tooth, there’s even Bacon Lollipops, Bacon Cupcakes with Maple Icing, and a decadent Dark Chocolate & Bacon Swirl Ice Cream.

“Bacon is definitely experiencing renewed popularity with both chefs and those who enjoy cooking at home,” says ArtsQuest Center Executive Chef Fred Grant.  “Far from just a great breakfast option, the meat’s texture and flavor lend itself very well to a variety of culinary uses including appetizers, entrées and even dessert.”

Complementing the menu offerings will be bacon-themed presentations and entertainment. Tony Page and Rooster Street Provisions, a Lancaster County butcher, will be on hand to offer bacon and pork products, as well as advice and recipes for preparing these meats, while D.G. Yuengling & Son brewmaster John Callahan will offer a presentation on pairing Yuengling beers with bacon and pork dishes.  The afternoon will also include light rock music by “The Three Little Pigs,” plus pigskin games shown on the Musikfest Café’s TV screens. All attendees will receive a Bacontopia Passport they can have stamped each time they sample a bacon dish, and everyone who samples all 10 offerings will be entered into a drawing to win Musikfest Café concert tickets.

Bacontopia is presented by ArtsQuest and the Aramark Culinary Team at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. All proceeds from the event will go to support ArtsQuest’s Arts Education Programming Fund, which provides quality arts and education programs and experiences for students from throughout the Lehigh Valley.  For more information, please visit www.artsquest.org.
