2015 HAPPENING LIST WINNER: Beauty & Wellness: Chiropractor
GENERAL vs. SPECIFIC
I am frequently asked why our Neuro-Spinal adjustments are so specific when conventional chiropractors tend to be generalized. To answer this question, let’s look at the difference between Neuro-Spinal Correction (NSC) and a general manipulation.
With most conventional chiropractors, it is not uncommon for patients to lay down, receive a quick assessment, followed by manipulations. Because the analysis is only aimed at locating areas of spinal joint fixation, conventional chiropractors take more of a general approach with respect to manipulating the spine.
Neuro-Spinal Correction involves a more detailed analysis than conventional manipulation. In fact, NSC narrows in on how the muscles and spine are functioning (physically and neurologically) utilizing specific testing in an objective, measurable manner, indicating areas where a “short circuit” may have occurred, leading us to know whether or not you have any Neuro-Spinal Shifts present.
The examination allows for specificity in the correction of Neuro-Spinal Shifts via the Neuro-Spinal Adjustment. As a result, secondary conditions are often addressed. Finally, the reduction in risk of overwhelming the nervous system that may occur with conventional general manipulation is diminished.
What are secondary conditions? This is what typically brings a potential patient into our office, whether it is a referral from their OBGYN, pediatrician, friend, or Google. Symptoms are called secondary conditions because there is a reason for them to be occurring. The purpose of the examination is to establish whether a Neuro-Spinal Shift is the primary issue causing your secondary condition.
We always start with a complimentary consultation, which entails a conversation about your health history and checking out the office. If after the exam we do not find any of those Shifts, we let you know and if necessary, refer you to the appropriate health care provider.
