Children’s programs to warm the soul during this cold winter snap in the Lehigh Valley
Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts Bethlehem, PA
February 1 and March 1, 2014

2.2014 - Hunt for HistoryPut your sleuthing cap on at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts on Saturday, February 1 from 12am – 4pm for the Hunt for History Club! This program, designed especially for kids, brings local history to life with games, stories, crafts, and more! Qualify for special club rankings and prizes by keeping track of events you attend on your official club card. After 3 events, you are named an official RESEARCHER, 6 events and you become an INVESTIGATOR, and after 9 events in a year, you are a Historic Bethlehem HISTORIAN.

On February 1, children will explore antique wallpaper samples from the Kemerer Dollhouse collection. Learn about wallpaper production and techniques. Then make your own sample using stamps and create your own design! Then, on March 1, join fellow detectives again for the first segment of a two-part Hunt for History on paper conservation.  Paper plays a large role in the history of material culture. Drawings, prints, paintings, books, manuscripts and money are just some types of objects that rely on the use of paper. Participants will learn about proper care and restoration techniques through hands on activities. The March Hunt for History Club meeting will take place 11am-4pm at the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts.

Admission to the program is included with an adult Pass into History admission ticket of $12 (limit 2 free children per adult). The Pass into History allows access to all of Historic Bethlehem’s sites; so stop by the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem after the program and explore Bethlehem’s foundations!
