Williams Township residents will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony on Sunday, May 25, at 6 p.m. to honor fallen heroes, living veterans, and service persons on active duty.
The sunset ceremony will be held at the Williams Twp. Municipal Building, 655 Cider Press Rd. in Williams Township. Lou DiLullo, retired Captain, U.S. Navy, and township resident, will deliver the address. Three brothers of a fallen hero – Jess, John, and Dale Murray –will lay a wreath at the base of the memorial to the township’s Fallen Heroes. Terry Lee, long-time chair of the township Planning Commission, will convey greetings on behalf of the community of Williams. Richard Seiffert, Memorial Committee member, will serve as master of ceremonies.
A Community Service Recognition Award will be presented to Blair and Valerie Ferguson, founders of “Support the Troops, Inc.” – an organization that sends to the troops year-round care packages of personal items, books, and letters and drawings, especially from children.
Also participating are the Wilson Area High School Band, Boy Scout Troop 31 of Williams Twp., Pastor Blake Heffner of St. John’s Church of Morgan Hill, the firing squad of Marine Corps League/Northampton County Detachment, students from Williams Township Elementary School, members of the Veterans Memorial Committee, and many individual citizens.
The community at large is invited to join this program of recognition. Parking is available at the Williams Township Municipal Building. Attendees are urged to bring their own chairs.
