THIS WEEK’S VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY

CAMELOT FOR CHILDREN, INC., Allentown needs Camp Buddy volunteers (age 13+ years) from 6/20-8/5 to be matched up with a child with a disability to help them throughout the camp day.  Training date is June 14.  Call Christine Cleaver, 610-791-5683, chrisc@camelotforchildren.org before June 10.

CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem needs volunteers for their Annual Boutique at the Rink, a sale of new and gently used items.  Help set up May 2-27 – Mondays & Wednesdays 9am-7pm and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 9am-1pm.  Volunteers are needed to work a 4 hour shift on Sales Days: May 31-3:30-9:30pm, June 1, 2, 3 -9:30am-8:30pm, and June 4 7:30am-3:30pm.  Sign up on their website www.cancersupportglv.org or via email boutiqueattherink@gmail.com.

GOOD SHEPHERD REHABILITATION NETWORK, Allentown is recruiting volunteers for their Gift Shop to complete sales, restock/straighten merchandise, and assist customers.  Volunteers to assist with Community Entry Outings for Inpatients and Outpatients are also needed.  Volunteers must to be able to walk distances and feel comfortable providing supervision of patients with physical and cognitive impairments.  Call JoAnn Frey, 610-776-3125, jfrey@gsrh.org.

LEHIGH VALLEY CHILD CARE, Allentown needs volunteers to help with the annual Kiwanis picnic for their childcare preschoolers on Thursday, May 26 in the Allentown Rose Gardens from 10am-1pm.  The picnic is two hours of sports/activities for the kids followed by lunch in the park pavilions.  Volunteers will help supervise activities such as a moon bounce, obstacle course, and a variety of other activities.  Call Jessica Reynolds via email at keithrey@gmail.com.

MEALS ON WHEELS OF LEHIGH COUNTY, Allentown is looking for volunteers (18+ years) to do grocery shopping for homebound seniors and adults with disabilities.  Choose the area of Lehigh County that works best for you.  Flexible scheduling based on client’s needs (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly).  40 minute orientation required; choose from upcoming dates – Wed. 5/18 @10:30am,  Wed. 5/25 @6:30pm, Fri. 5/27 @10:30am, or call/email to schedule a one-on-one that fits your schedule.  Call Lindsay Fly, 610-841-7132, lfly@mealsonwheelslc.org.

MILLER-KEYSTONE BLOOD CENTER, Bethlehem is looking for Canteen Attendants at their Allentown site located at 1255 S. Cedar Crest Blvd, Suite 1300 every Saturday from 10am-1pm.  Canteen attendants monitor blood donors after their donations, ensure donors are feeling well before leaving the site, and serve drinks/snacks to our donors.  Orientations will be held.  Call Janice Brown, 610-691-5850, jbrown@giveapint.org.

SACRED HEART HOME CARE & HOSPICE, Allentown needs volunteers to help bereaved/grieving children age 8-16 at Camp Evergreen from July 29 at 5pm to July 31 at noon.  The weekend overnight camp, at Camp Fowler in Orefield, assists children in coping with their loss by using arts & crafts, games, and songs.  Call Cathy Sweeney, 877-438-3511, csweeney@spiritrustlutheranhomecare.org.

THE SALVATION ARMY CHILDREN’S SERVICES, Allentown is looking for volunteers to help with their 5th Annual Rock N Run 4Kids 10k, 5k, and Kids Fun Run at Coca-Cola Park on Saturday, May 21 from 7:30am-11:30am.  Positions include marshals, cheer zones, photography, face painting, musicians, dance teams, registration assistants, hospitality helpers, and much more!  No training or special requirements.  Call Jan Musser Geier, 610-821-7706, jan.mussergeier@use.salvationarmy.org.
