ARTSQUEST ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF INAUGURAL STEELSTACKS SCARECROW COMPETITION

SteelStacks Scarecrow WinnersA colorful, creative cat by Colleen Williams of Catasauqua and a Girl Scout-inspired recreation of Jack Skellington from ”The Nightmare Before Christmas” have been named the winners of the inaugural SteelStacks Scarecrow Competition and Exhibit.

Williams’ “Purrfect Crow Swatter” took first place in the Contemporary Scarecrow category, while “Jack Skellington in Girl Scout Land,” created by Girl Scout Troops 8225 & 830 of Bethlehem, took top honors in the Traditional Scarecrow category.  Winning scarecrows will be on display at Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks through Oct. 27; the complete list of winners is:

Contemporary Scarecrow:
1st Place: Purrfect Crow Swatter – Colleen Williams, Catasauqua ($200)
2nd Place: Scary – Andrew Skrzenski, Palmer Township ($100)
3rd Place: Fraulein Sunny Oktoberfest – Christina Deutsch, Whitehall ($50)

Traditional Scarecrow:
1st Place: Jack Skellington in Girl Scout Land – Girl Scout Senior Troop 8225 & Cadette Troop 830 ($200)
2nd Place: I Eat Crow – Susan Meyers, Bethlehem ($100)
3rd Place: Queen of the Crop – Fran Getz, Catasauqua ($50)
