Fans invited to celebrate historic day at SteelStacks in Lehigh Valley
The Philadelphia Union will unveil the name, logo, colors and season ticket information for the 2016 USL expansion team at a historic launch event on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m.
The event, which is set to take place in the Blast Furnace Room at ArtsQuest at SteelStacks located at 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem, Pa., will include enticing visual effects and activities in addition to the many attractions already available at ArtsQuest. Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin and technical director Chris Albright will be on site and fans will have the opportunity to purchase apparel for the new team.
SteelStacks, an iconic location in the Lehigh Valley, was once the home to the second largest steel manufacturer in the nation, Bethlehem Steel. Currently, SteelStacks features a 10-acre campus dedicated to arts, culture, family events and celebrations.
“We cannot think of a more fitting place to host the unveiling event of the new colors, logo and team name,” said Philadelphia Union Executive Vice President Dave Rowan. “SteelStacks and the Lehigh Valley are rich in industrial and soccer history, and we look forward to adding to the interesting and diverse story with this new team.”
The Union announced the 2016 team at a press conference on Aug. 19, 2015 at Goodman Stadium at Lehigh University, the future home of the new USL team. The team will start in the 2016 season and will serve as the Union’s second tier professional team.
