Bethlehem House Contemporary Art Gallery Interior Living RoomWhen Bethlehem House Contemporary Art Gallery debuts on Friday,  July 25th,  at 459  Main Street in historic Bethlehem, the gallery,  under the direction of Ward Van Haute, a 15 year veteran of  TV and stage in the Philadelphia and New York markets, will  also bring a unique new concept to exhibiting art in a gallery setting.

“Art belongs in the home,” says Van Haute,  who worked on noted TV shows as a graphic and set designer before turning his attention to fine art full time.   “We plan to demonstrate the practical use of contemporary artwork and modern interior design by exhibiting works in a furnished environment,” explains Van Haute, noting the gallery will feature a living room, bedroom, office, living area and foyer,  and eventually, a kitchen.  Art will be displayed in each room setting.

Award winning Philadelphia theater lighting designer Jerold R. Forsyth is designing the gallery lighting.  Says Van Haute, “Rather than featuring art using typical  gallery lighting, the intent here at Bethlehem House is to borrow from the theater, using lighting to alter and create different moods, times of day, and even emotion.”

Additionally,  home interior accents  in the 2,500 square-foot Turn-of-the-Century  gallery have been created by leading theatre set designers.

“The concept of Bethlehem House Contemporary Art Gallery will challenge the white walls  traditionally used in a gallery setting,” observes Van Haute.  “We believe that anyone can be a fine art collector and all homes can be enriched by the display of original art,” he says.

Bethlehem House Contemporary Art Gallery specializes in both emerging and established regional artists, and provides original, innovative art in a variety of contemporary styles for a variety of household  budgets.
