John & Jeni… so happy together!

While he was working backstage, she walked into the first rehearsal and he asked the stage manager, “Who is she, she’s beautiful!”That was seventeen years ago at the Civic Theatre of Allentown on a production of The Secret Garden where John and Jeni first met.   One night at the theatre before they began dating, the show rehearsal ran very late and Jeni had to be at work early the next morning. The following night at rehearsal John had a cup of coffee with sugar and half and half waiting for her.  She had only mentioned how she took her coffee once in passing, but John remembered.  Jeni  recalls this moment as when she began falling for him.  John recalls that time when Jeni sings for him, which he says, “is truly magical and takes me back to when I first fell in love with her.”

John and Jeni spend time together at Iron Pigs Baseball games, going to theatre and movies, enjoying local coffee shops, and most of all being with their daughter Maggie.  “It really doesn’t matter what we do as long as we do it together,” says John.

On their wedding anniversary they always venture out for a romantic meal.  Otherwise they enjoy Billy’s Downtown Diner for breakfast, Black Forest Deli for lunch, and Benner Street Restaurant for dinner.

For this happily married couple being best friends is part of their successful relationship.   Jeni loves how warm John is and says not only is he sweet and tender, but his body temperature is quite warm and is really great on those cold winter nights.  Of Jeni, John says she is so friendly and loves to make people smile.  He is always amazed at how she can make even the most reserved person share something interesting about themselves! Their relationship is caring and sweet, yet they admit it takes much hard work, communication, and understanding to make a marriage the best it can be.  Most of all though, never give up on each other!
