July 4 Jubilee Celebration at Liberty Bell Museum

1:30 – 3:00 p.m. July 4 – celebration of the founding of the Liberty Bell Shrine

Dave Fry is our featured guest at this annual event, which this year marks the Fiftieth (Jubilee) Anniversary of the Liberty Bell Shrine Museum. Fry will lead us in song and will be premiering a new original ballad about the Liberty Bell! Local historian, Frank Whelan, will share stories about the founding of the Liberty Bell Shrine. Colonial crafter, Verna Fisher, will instruct the children in a special colonial take-along craft. (Reservations required for children’s craft.) And both Allentown’s ‘Liberty Bell’ and the replica Liberty Bell will be rung as part of the national Bell Ringing Ceremony. Pip the Mouse will be on hand to greet the children.

Admission: free for museum members and Pip’s Pals; non-members: $3 suggested donation per adult, $1 per child. Refreshments will be served.

The Liberty Bell Museum is located in historic Zion’s church at 622 W. Hamilton Street, Allentown. Parking for this event is available behind and next to the church building, as well as on street. More information is available at www.LibertyBellMuseum.org.

Free 4th of July Fun at Bethlehem SteelStacks

The 4th of July is quickly approaching and it brings with it more than just fireworks, although they are the perfect ending to the day! This year you can spend the entire day at Bethlehem SteelStacks for free entertainment and activities that are perfect for the entire family. What better way to spend a holiday than to have all day entertainment for free?

Apple Pie Eating Contest

SteelStacks is located at 101 Founders Way in Bethlehem and kicks off the 4th of July entertainment at noon with an Apple Pie Eating Contest for the adults. This event takes place at the Air Products Town Square and will invite the brave and starving alike to see how fast they can finish a delicious apple pie! This event runs until 2:00pm and invites 6 people to battle it out every half hour. Upon completion, the winner will be crowned and will receive a $100 in Musikfest food and beverage tickets! Register for this tasty event and see if you can be the fastest apple pie eating 4th of Julyer!

Chris Ruggiero Entertains

Also beginning at noon at the Air Products Town Square, Chris Ruggiero will amaze you with his One Man Variety Show. You can expect comedy, juggling, and magic, plus some amazing stunts. His act is something you won’t want to miss and is perfect for the whole family. Chris Ruggiero will be entertaining until 5:30pm.

Once Upon a Nation

Starting at noon and running until 5:30 pm at the Air Products Town Square, you can hear riveting tales of American History from Once Upon a Nation, the storytelling group from historic Philadelphia. This free event is perfect for even the smallest of children, as it is never too early to start learning about our history.

Children’s Craft Area

From noon until 6:00pm, children are invited to the Air Products Town Square Craft Area to make patriotic crafts including pinwheels.

Junk Rock

Beginning at 5:30pm, the whole family will be delighted and fascinated by Junk Rock, a percussion group that uses any and all objects as instruments while providing the audience with laughs and danceable grooves. This ensemble is meant to delight all ages with comedic drumming, virtuosic stick tricks, and beats beyond the imagination! This event is also located at the Air Products Town Square and will run until 8:00pm.

Allentown Symphony Orchestra

The Allentown Symphony Orchestra will present a free performance of Across the USA, under the musical leadership of Music Director/Conductor Diane Wittry. The performance will feature Soloist Sal Viviano and will be held at Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks from 8:00pm-9:30pm.

FIREWORKS

The 4th of July fireworks will be held following the Allentown Symphony Orchestra on the SteelStacks campus. As the sun goes down, a spectacular firework display will erupt over the blast furnaces, providing the perfect ending to an amazing day!
