October is National Disability Employment (2)October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, the Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living (LVCIL) will host a wine and cheese tasting and informational session entitled “Hiring People with Disabilities” in conjunction with the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. The event will take place at the Best Western on Routes 512 & 22 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Guests will learn about the benefits of hiring people with disabilities, assistance offered to employers, and support programs such as LVCIL’s Career Path.

Amy Beck, LVCIL Executive Director, and Dr. Scott Berman, LVCIL Board of Directors President, will preside at the event and share their expertise and knowledge about fostering a disability-friendly community. Damon Kimble, Regional Operations Director of the Lehigh Valley Restaurant Group, is the guest speaker. Damon has over 15 years of experience in restaurant management and will address best practices in, and the advantages and benefits of hiring people with disabilities.

Doors open at 5:00 pm with light hors d’oeuvres and a selection of fine wines. LVCIL suggests a $25 donation for non-Chamber members and $20 for Chamber members. All net proceeds will benefit LVCIL’s programs and services.
