The Great Allentown Fair, running August 27 – September 2, 2013, celebrates its 161st year offering a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages. Dedicated to supporting the achievements of farmers, gardeners and homemakers, the Fair enables children to learn where their food comes from while spending an exciting day riding rides, playing games and seeing shows. The young and young at heart will find tantalizing international cuisine, musical concerts, thrill shows, and the latest in gizmos and gadgets.

Grandstand Shows

john-mayer-grandstandGrammy award winning artist JOHN MAYER and his special guest, 2012 American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, will perform at The Great Allentown Fair on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Teen singing sensations Austin Mahone and Bridgit Mendler will co-headline one show at The Great Allentown Fair on Wednesday, August 28.
“We’ve got a ‘teen-tween dream team here!'” fair Talent Buyer Bonnie Brosious asserted. “Both these artists have songs in the “most played” lists of the iPods belonging to an audience that we love to host at the fair, so featuring the two of them on one night doubles the attraction.” she added.

 

zac-brown-band-grandstandThe Zac Brown Band is performing Thursday, August 29, the band is touring to support “Uncaged,” its fifth album that took home the Grammy for Best Country album in February. Brown describes “Uncaged” as “…your basic country-Southern rock-bluegrass-reggae-jam record.”

The Zac Brown Band’s nine #1 Country singles include “Chicken Fried,” “Toes,” “Highway 20 Ride,” “Colder Weather,” “Free,”  “Keep Me in Mind,” “Goodbye in her Eyes” and collaborations “As She’s Walking Away” featuring Alan Jackson and “Knee Deep” featuring Jimmy Buffett.

L-BryanLuke Bryan, the emerging favorite of country music fans who won 10 fan-voted awards since mid November, will perform at The Great Allentown Fair on Friday, August 30, 2013.

The Georgia native was part of the country bill headlined by Jason Aldean that set a box office record at the fair last August. When he returns this August, Bryan will be on the top rung of the marquee with special guests Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line rounding out the bill.

 

new-TK-grandstand-bannerToby Keith, one of country music’s most enduring artists as evidenced by his 16 albums and perennial string of sold-out concerts spanning two decades, is returning to The Great Allentown Fair on Saturday, August 31. He will be joined by special guest and fellow country artist Kip Moore.

Keith started pumping out gold albums and hits throughout the 1990s.  His breakthrough single “How Do You Like Me Now?” from his 1999 album of the same name became country music’s No. 1 hit single of 2000.

jeff-dunham-grandstand “He’s baaack!”  Jeff Dunham, the highest ticket-selling comedian in The Great Allentown Fair’s history, will return with his entourage of quirky puppet dummies for one performance on Sunday, September 1 at 8 p.m.

Dunham, undeniably one of the most successful ventriloquists of all time, sold an unprecedented 19,000 tickets for two nights of performances at the fair when he and his cast of characters Walter, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Peanut, Bubba J and Jose Jalapeño debuted there in 2009.

The J & J Demolition Derby adds a new heat this year for “CRAZY Compact Cars” that’s sure to excite veteran derby fans and newcomers to the zany auto competition sending fenders flying. The starting gun fires at 5 p.m., and they’re off—smashing into each other until there’s only one smoldering junker left still rolling.
