2015 HAPPENING LIST WINNER: Wedding: Caterer
Nick Sandt and Dori Kichline met in culinary school while they were both attending Northampton Community College. Dori’s dream was to be a Chef; Nick had an indescribable passion for cooking. While in school, Nick and Dori worked together on a catering job with their chef instructor, Chef Sue Roth. When the event was over Nick and Dori knew what they wanted to do. On April 10th, 2012 the two of them sat at Nick’s kitchen table and signed all the documents together to make The Culinary Experience & Catering both legal and official. The Culinary Experience and Catering, LLC was born. It was now time to build a website, get business cards and get customers. However building a clientele base was going to take some time; as an example, weddings don’t happen immediately, it usually takes a year or two of planning.
In the meantime Nick and Dori decided to open a cheesesteak shop on 12th and Chew Streets in Allentown, Pennsylvania. After about a year Nick and Dori had the opportunity to meet The Dewey (in Hellertown, PA) board members. They gave the board members a sample of their food and great things began to happen. The Culinary Experience & Catering, LLC began moving into The Dewey about two weeks later and it continues to be their home to this day!
The Culinary Experience strives to use local ingredients as well as the freshest ingredients available. They enjoy creating a customized menu for each individual customer. The Culinary Experience has been named The Best Caterer in The Lehigh Valley by Lehigh Valley Magazine for both 2014 and 2015. They have also been named winner in the 2015 Wedding Caterer category of the Lehigh Valley’s 2015 Happening List.
