On Sept. 9, during the Levitt Pavilion’s final weekend, New Orleans comes to the Lehigh Valley as SteelStacks welcomes trumpet player Glen David Andrews. In recent years, Andrews has been making waves as a headliner at the world’s biggest block party, the annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and this past summer he delighted the crowds at Musikfest. The Wall Street Journal has praised Andrews, saying, “Onstage and off, electrifying club audiences and street scenes, speaking his mind at civic allies, Glen David Andrews perhaps embodies what David Simon, creator of the HBO series Treme, meant when he said, ‘culture is what brought New Orleans back.’”
“From Rock and Roll Hall of Famers to GRAMMY Award winners, the 2016 Levitt Pavilion lineup is shaping up to be our most dynamic ever,” says Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks Executive Director Julie Benjamin. “In 2015, we had a record 85,000 people attend the summer concert series, but what’s even more impressive is the fact that approximately 80 percent of our funding for this free series is raised locally thanks to the support of area corporations, community grants and donations from individuals. This amazing music venue is truly a community resource in every sense of the word!”
