On Saturday and Sunday September 19 & 20, 2015 the 19th annual Riverside Festival of the Arts will be held in downtown Easton along the scenic banks of the Delaware and Lehigh Rivers. The Festival continues to host more juried artists and fine craftspeople each year.

Exhibiting artists and craftspeople compete to win $1600 in prizes based on workmanship and presentation. Plein air art contestants receive a canvas and have the opportunity to create a piece over the weekend and win $1000 in prizes

Last year’s Festival included 80 juried artists and artisans. Prizes are awarded in two categories: Fine Arts: including painting, drawing, pastel, printmaking, photography and sculpture; and Fine Crafts: featuring jewelry, mosaic, fabric and fiber, stained glass, metalwork, woodwork, clay work, and plenty more.

Riverside Festival of the Arts is currently accepting applications for this September’s event. Applications can be found at EastonRiversideFest.org or eastonArts.org, or call 610.438.4772 to obtain one by mail. All juried artist and crafter applications must be received by August 31, 2015.

Contestants for the 6th annual Plein Air Art Contest may enter now, or right up to the actual event. The $10.00 entry fee reserves your canvas. The completed work must be handed in by 3 PM on Sunday when it is exhibited in a “Plein Air Gallery” where the entries are judged and, if they wish, the artists may sell their work. Three regional art celebrity judges pick the winning pieces: $500 -1st, $300 -2nd, and $200 -3rd prizes

There is live music all weekend and James Supra will soon announce our exciting live music lineup on facebook.com/riversideArts. Not only is Easton completely inundated with art during the Festival, it’s also filled with music provided by many gifted regional singers, songwriters, and musicians.

Admission is free to the public and, thanks to the generosity of Crayola, there are art projects available for children all weekend long, so bring the kids!

The Festival attracts a couple thousand visitors who enjoy art, live music and downtown Easton’s creative vibe. Visitors can make a nice day or weekend of it – so many fine restaurants to choose from. Enjoy the Riverside Arts Festival and then venture to the Crayola Experience, or Sigal Museum, or simply stroll around town to enjoy the inspired architecture, Farmers’ Market, and variety of funky shops. During your stroll you might even happen upon plein air artists so you can watch them in action.

Want to be a part of this creative event? Volunteer or sponsorship opportunities abound – see EastonRiversideFest.com for details. Let the world know that you support the arts in our community, just like Crayola, Brown-Daub, and Morning Call did once again. Sponsors will be acknowledged in the 2015 Festival Program Booklet and Guide.
