For the last five months twelve year old Rose Ostrowski of Berwick, PA has been on an area mall tour to help raise awareness and donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Her last show was Saturday afternoon at the Marketplace at Steamtown in Scranton and with her second annual “Adding Tomorrows” Mall Tour in the books the young lady helped raised $2,000 for the charity since her tours inception.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that attacks the respiratory system. As a result of suffering with it, Rose’s cousin, Camillia passed away from the disease in 2012. Shortly after and at 8 years of age, Rose recorded a cover of ‘Let it Be’ and two years later she recorded another cover, called ‘Life is a River’. All of the proceeds from those song downloads are donated to the foundation as well.
“She was so much more comfortable this year than last year”, said Rose’s mother, Jeralyn Ostrowski.
“It’s amazing how much the experience itself has helped her grow”. We can’t thank all of the mall managers and business relations people at those facilities for inviting Rose back this year. Many, if not all have asked for her to return in the future, which was very nice to hear.”
Rose was equally happy with her performances this year. And, unlike last year, her set list differed a bit from one stop to another.
“Every show that I did was just a little different this year” said Rose.
“The tour started earlier, but it also lasted longer than the last one. I met a lot of very nice people and many of them also gave donations to help find a cure for CF. I just want to say thank you to all of them that came out to support the cause.”
Although her mall tour is complete, Rose has plans to continue through the spring and into the summer. She was recently invited to perform at the CF Foundation’s “Great Strides Walk”, which will take place at Montage Mountain on Saturday, May 13. Festival, car show and charity performances are also in motion. Those dates will be announced in the near future.
If things go as planned, Rose will be back in the recording studio soon to record her third single.
She would like to thank all of the bands, musicians, radio, and print and internet media for helping with spreading the word regarding her mission over the last four years. Many of which include Bill Leverty and the members of FireHouse, WARRANT, Abi Ann, Stryper, Roger Fisher (formerly of Heart), Tesla, James Beier of Beier Drums, Bricklin, Josette Miles, Melissa Krahnke and Leighann Burke.
