D.G. YUENGLING & SON PARTNERS WITH ARTSQUEST TO MAKE OKTOBERFEST AT STEELSTACKS FREE FOR 2014
Festival will not require an admission fee for first time; several new events & attractions are also planned

OktoberfestLogo_colorOne of the largest festivals at SteelStacks is about to get even bigger thanks to the support of its presenting sponsor!

When Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling gets underway Oct. 3, the festival will be free for the first time in its history thanks to the Pottsville-based D.G. Yuengling & Son. The event, which began in 2011, had a daily admission fee of $10 for ages 11 and up and $3 for ages 6-12 in 2013.
“ArtsQuest has a long history of presenting quality, free arts and cultural programming for our region,” says said D.G. Yuengling & Son Marketing Manager Jen Holtzman. “Oktoberfest has really gotten off to a great start during its first three years, with more than 20,000 people attending the event each year. Providing free admission to the festival will allow the event to continue to grow, while making it even more accessible to the residents of our region and beyond. D.G. Yuengling & Son has been a proud partner with ArtsQuest for the past five years, and we look forward to continuing to work with the entire ArtsQuest staff to make Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling one of the premier events in the state.”

As part of this year’s Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling, guests will find a number of new attractions and activities to enjoy and explore. These include a free Penn State-Michigan football game viewing party on the Levitt Pavilion Lawn Oct. 11, and a new craft brewers’ village presented by the Brewers of Pennsylvania at PNC Plaza at SteelStacks on both weekends. In addition, the festival is adding additional pairing experiences featuring great German food and beverages, as well as a new Yuengling Oktoberfest 5k on Oct. 5. The 5k race has already attracted more than 2,000 entrants.

“When Yuengling approached us with the idea of transforming Oktoberfest into a free event for our community, we thought it fit in perfectly with our mission, as well as our programming, about 65 percent of which is actually free to attend,” says ArtsQuest Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advancement Kassie Hilgert. “Some of our most popular events at SteelStacks such as Musikfest, the ¡Sabor! Latin Festival and the FIFA World Cup SoccerFest & Viewing party are all free, and they’ve been huge draws for our region. Removing the admission fee at Oktoberfest will no doubt allow even more people to enjoy this unique experience and festival. We thank D.G. Yuengling & Son for all of its support in helping us develop some amazing programming at SteelStacks over the past several years.”
Oktoberfest presented by Yuengling dates are Oct. 3-5 and 10-12. For more information on the festival, please visit www.artsquest.org/Oktoberfest.
