The Sands Lehigh Valley Airshow, presented by Service Electric, will offer a unique opportunity to watch not one, but two different land vs. air races!

Steve FoxRacing against Matt Chapman from the 4CE will be the Steve Fox in the 2013 Impala SS NASCAR Sprint Cup-style stock car and the 2013 Camaro SS Pocono Raceway Pace Car. “The Impala SS has a top speed of 170 MPH”, said Chief Instructor/General Manager of the Pocono Stockcar Racing Experience, Steve Fox. “I hope it can keep up”. Steve has a vast and varied racing background. He currently competes in the SCCA, SVRA and ARCA series. Before his current schedule of ovals and road courses on four wheels he started out on motorcycles and snowmobiles, this will be his first race against an airplane!

Shelina MoredaRacing against the all-electric Brammo Empulse R motorcycle will be Billy Segalla from the Iron Eagles. The motorcycle is from Eurosports in Coopersburg and will be driven by Shelina Moreda. Moreda is the first female to have raced a motorcycle at Indy Raceway and the only female to be racing in the AMA Pro Harley class. Shelina races professionally in both the United States and Europe and is one of only four females racing motorcycles at the National level in the United States.

Both aircraft will approach the starting line from the air. The car and the motorcycle will get the word to start, and in both separate cases, its full throttle to see who finishes faster! “These two particular races are two in which you won’t often have the opportunity to see. It is exciting to be able to couple the thrill of flying with the thrill of racing. What better way to do that than with the electric Brammo bike and the Pocono Raceway stock car at the Lehigh Valley Airshow”, said Charles Everett, Executive Director of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.

Pocono Stockcar Racing Experience has donated two prizes for the airshow! Included in prize #1 will be a 3 Lap Ride from StockCar Racing Experience at Pocono Raceway. The grand prize is two tickets to each of the 2014 NASCAR races at Pocono Raceway and a 20 Mile Drive from StockCar Racing Experience at Pocono Raceway, valued at $1000.

Don’t miss your chance to check out this never before seen stunt at the Lehigh Valley Airshow, or your chance at winning a grand prize from Pocono Raceway!

4CEThe 4CE is America’s new team of stars. Matt Chapman is the team lead. He has over 30 years in the air show business and is a pilot for American Airlines when not performing in air shows. He is a 2 time member of the US National Aerobatic Team and flew with a team called The Close Encounters

Rob Holland flies the right wing. He is the reigning 2012 US National Aerobatic Champion and also won the same award in 2011. He have been flying for over 20 years and loves to fly upside down. He was a member of a team called The Firebirds

Jack Knutson flies the left wing. He has been flying air shows since the early 90s and was a member of the US Jet Team, which flew 4 Fouga jets. He created The Firebirds and has flown with a couple of partners over the years, recently settled on Rob Holland as partner

Bill Stein flies the slot position with the team. He has been flying formation since the 1980’s. He was a member of the popular Red Baron Stearman Squadron for several years and also flew with another 4 ship formation team called The Collaborators.

The 4ce started performing at air shows in 2012. This year, they have flown at some of the most well know air shows in North American, including Sun n Fun, Oshkosh, Abbotsford and more. The 4 aircraft perform as one and fly many of the same type of maneuvers that you would see jet teams like the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds perform. They not only perform together, but each pilot also performs solo. The team can also perform as a 3 ship flight or even as a 2 ship.

Iron EaglesThe Iron Eagles are one of the most exciting and dynamic flying teams on the air show circuit today. Bill Gordon, who flies lead and Bill Segala flying wing, perform in custom built Super Christen Eagle I biplanes and there are only four aircraft like theirs flying in the country today. The close maneuvers they perform keep the audience on the edge of their seats throughout their entire show in the sky. Alan Lanco has been the Iron Eagles announcer for 20 years and is a master at describing the dynamic and challenging aerial performance displayed by the team.

The Sands Lehigh Valley Air Show, presented by Service Electric, is one of the few air shows taking place in Pennsylvania this year. In addition to static aircraft displays and a classic car show, there will also be a jet team, flight performances, sky diving demonstrations, exhibitors, food vendors and sponsored special events. Airshow gates will open at 9 AM, with performances from 12-4 PM.  The airshow entrance will be located on Race Street, just off Airport Road. Parking is permitted only in designated areas and will be offered free to airshow guests. Free remote shuttle parking will be available.
