I finally asked Jay about his recording routine.  “The producers always wanted me to cut my track first, usually with a simple background, and then lay in the other tracks, instrumentals and harmony singers on top of mine to complete the recording. That’s not the way I like to do it.  The way it works for me is to record everything first and then let me sing to the music.  That’s the way I give it my best because I feel the song, just like in live concerts.”

Currently, Jay is recording for Forevermore Records where he was nominated for the Carolina Beach Music Awards.  Proctor is still a huge favorite with Blues Radio and Northern Soul Radio audiences in the U.K.  “We are still very big in England and have made plans to travel over there but every time we were ready to go something happened and we had a cancel” said Proctor. “One of these days we’re going to make the trip and I know good things will begin to happen again”.

Jay still keeps in touch with The Techniques, most of whom still live in The Lehigh Valley.  “When we started making hits I guess you could say we were stars but none of us thought about it, we were just having fun.”  Maybe the magic can happen again in the Lehigh Valley, rather than across the pond.”  As Jay would say… “It’s all about the music!”

“When I’m Ready For Love” was recorded and released in 2006 by Forevermore Records and samples the versatility of this performer.
