4thofjuly SteelstacksALLENTOWN BAND, ALICE TAN RIDLEY & FIREWORKS HIGHLIGHT the 3 DAY EVENT

Free concerts by the Allentown Band and America’s Got Talent sensation Alice Tan Ridley, fireworks, kids’ pie eating contests and a muscle car display highlight the third-annual Independence Day Celebration presented by Embassy Bank July 4-6 at SteelStacks. All events and activities during the three-day event are free to attend.

On July 4, 8 p.m., the community is invited to celebrate the birth of our nation with a performance of patriotic music by the Allentown Band, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. The oldest civilian concert band in the United States, the Allentown Band continues to dazzle audiences with its performances featuring everything from the music of John Philip Sousa to classical overtures and modern compositions written specifically for concert bands.

On July 5, guest can enjoy the music of the Caribbean Steel Rhythms, BC Combo and Alice Tan Ridley. Ridley, who will perform at the Levitt Pavilion at 7 p.m., is perhaps best known for her moving performances on the fifth season of America’s Got Talent. She also earned an Emmy in 2007 for her part in the documentary Military Families.

The Independence Day Celebration continues July 6 starting at 11:30 a.m. with a Peas & Qs performance by kids’ rock band StarFish followed by a Peas and Qs summer party at 12:30 p.m. Summer party events and activities include a sprinkler party on the Levitt Lawn, as well as kids’ blueberry and apple pie eating contests, an Uncle Sam/Betsy Ross look-a-like contest, and fun family activities like water balloon tosses, sack races and arts & crafts. Other attractions July 6 include a display of muscle cars presented by GTO Association of Pennsylvania, as well as music by Sing for America, Kenny Dale Sifter, Dina Hall & Christine Harvrilla, the Craig Thatcher Band and The Sofa Kings.

Independence Day Celebration hours are 4:30-11 p.m. July 4, 3-11 p.m. July 5 and 11:30 a.m.-11 p.m. July 6.
