May is National Foster Care Month and The Salvation Army Children’s Services is inviting everyone to help us honor it on Saturday May 16th at Coca-Cola Park, home of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, in Allentown. Runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels are invited to register for the 4th Annual Rock N’ Run 4 Kids 5K and Fun Run and meet local mascots, win raffle prizes, and support foster care and adoption services in the Lehigh Valley.
Register as a solo runner or recruit some friends and co-workers and register as a team prior to race day by going to rocknrun4kids.com. Registration will also be available on race day starting at 7:30 am, but only those who register early will be guaranteed a t-shirt.
The Kid’s Fun Run is for ages 12 and under and begins at 8:30 am; registration is $15. The Fun Run takes kids around the warning track inside the stadium. The top two boys and the top two girls will receive medals and the top Fun Run fundraiser will win a Family Fun Package that includes tickets and passes to some of the Lehigh Valley’s best attractions.
The 5K runner who raises the most money will win a 64 GB iPad Air 2. Other prizes include cash for the top male and female finishers in the Master’s Category and medals for the top finishers in each age division. The 5K begins at 9:00 am; registration is $30 before May 1st. After May 1st, registration is $35.
Honorary “Fun Run Team Captain” Justin Hudsco will lead the Fun Run and cheer on his fellow runners. Three years ago, Justin was involved in an accident which resulted in the loss of his left leg. He underwent months of physical therapy and rehab and with the love and support of his family, Justin will be leading the pack.
Proceeds benefit the fulfillment of The Salvation Army Children’s Services’ mission: “Doing the most good by Nurturing children, Strengthening families, & Engaging communities.” For more event information, to download fundraising packets, and to register online, go to rocknrun4kids.com
