Family Stone jpgRock and Roll Hall of Famers The Family Stone will join KC and the Sunshine Band at Musikfest Aug. 8, 7 p.m., making for a night of nonstop dancing at the festival’s Sands Steel Stage. Founded in 1967, Sly and the Family Stone produced classics such as “I Want to Take You Higher,” “Everyday People,” “Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin,” “Dance To The Music” and more. In 1993 the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and at the 2006 Grammy Awards ceremony it was honored by an all-star lineup that included Joss Stone, John Legend, Adam Levine, Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and others. Today, The Family Stone continues to perform, delighting audiences with its timeless blend of rock, soul and funk.

Musikfest will celebrate its 30th year Aug. 2-11 with more than 500 musical performances on 14 stages, as well as 60 food vendors, 45 artisans and more. Other performers include Ke$ha, Avenged Sevenfold, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Styx & Foreigner, Skillet with Thousand Foot Krutch, OneRepublic, Darius Rucker, Carly Rae Jepsen, Peter Frampton & B.B.
