An evening of Gypsy Jazz and Brazilian Music at Ambre Studio

Ted Falcon at Ambre Studio August 19 2014 headshotInternationally acclaimed musicians, Ted and Marvin Falcon, will reunite for a father and son musical celebration of Brazilian Music and Gypsy Jazz at Ambre Studio, Tuesday, August 19, 7:30 pm.  The concert will feature Ted on the violin and mandolin, his father, Marvin, on guitar and ukulele, with special guest Gary Lader,  on the piano and accordion.

Ted is an American violinist, mandolinist and composer. He has written several books about Brazilian choro music for the Escola de Choro  Raphael Rabello, (Clube do Choro) the nation’s most respected Choro School. He  performs regularly throughout Brazil with various music projects, including  Jambrosia, Trio Oblivion, Gypsy Jazz Club, Kervanserai, and the duo Ted and Pablo,  with harmonica player Pablo Fagundes. He has performed with Hermeto Pascoal, Dominguinhos, Armandinho Macêdo, Hamilton de Holanda and many noted Brazilian musicians. In the U.S., he has performed along side of David  Grisman and Mike Marshall and has recorded with Suzanne Vega and Ben E. King.  Ted is one of the few innovators on the violin, an instrument rarely used in Brazilian popular music.  Born in New York, Ted grew up in Allentown.  He has lived and worked as a professional musician in New York City, Los Angeles and São Paulo. For the past five years, he has lived in Brasília, the capital of  Brazil.

MarvinFalconColorPhotoLowResProfessional guitarist Marvin Falcon of Allentown, is a former accompanist for Harry Belafonte, Miriam Makena, Ronnie Gilbert of the Weavers, and Paul Winter Jazz Sextet. He is a veteran studio musician in LA, New York  and is a member  of the “4 Most” jazz vocal group. He is a noted composer, arranger, and performer appearing on the Tonight Show, and Hollywood Palace.  Marvin taught at Cedar Crest College for a decade and had vocal works performed by major choruses nationally.
