Every summer, the population of Bethlehem grows as thousands of guests visit the city to attend festivals like Musikfest, the Sabor Latin Festival and the 50 summer concerts at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks. Directly tied to this, the staff of ArtsQuest expands substantially as it adds dozens of positions essential to ensuring everyone has a first-class experience when they attend the nonprofit’s festivals, events and programs.

In anticipation of another busy summer season, ArtsQuest will be hiring up to 300 part-time seasonal and festival positions over the next few months, with many of the positions geared toward preparing for Musikfest, the nation’s largest free music festival, which draws up to one million people to Bethlehem each August.  Although some of the Musikfest-focused positions may only be a few weeks in length, other employment opportunities span the entire summer, from Memorial Day weekend through the end of August.

Positions avaible include summer camp supervisors and assistants at the Banana Factory Arts Center, as well as retail merchandise assistants, operations assistants, parking lot attendants and more. Most of the summer-long opportunities are in event services, where approximately 70 positions will be added in the next few months. Candidates for all positions must have strong customer service skills and experience, as well as an interest in being outdoors during the summer.

“These positions present excellent opportunities for individuals who have outgoing personalities and really enjoy interacting with the public,” says ArtsQuest Vice President of Human Resources Cindy Karchner. “They’re perfect for high school graduates and college students, as well as teachers who are off for the summer and are looking to earn some additional income.”

“We’ve found that young people really enjoy these experiences since they’re fun, often fast paced and provide great experience working in areas like the arts and events management in which they hope to ultimately land a career.”

The complete list of seasonal and festival employment opportunities is available at www.artsquest.org/employment.  Interested candidates must be at least 18 years old and should submit a resume and cover letter to jobs@artsquest.org, with the position title clearly stated in the subject line of the email.
