10,000 MANIACS, ANGELIQUE KIDJO, ROYAL SOUTHERN BROTHERHOOD & MORE COMING TO MUSIKFEST CAFÉ


10,000 Maniacs, Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo and the Royal Southern Brotherhood featuring Cyril Neville & Devon Allman are among the new acts announced for theArtsQuest Center’s Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling, 101 Founders Way, Bethlehem. Tickets for the shows will go on sale Oct. 22, 10 a.m., to ArtsQuest Members and Oct. 25, 10 a.m., to the public. They’ll be available at www.artsquest.org and 610-332-3378.

Formed in 1981, 10,000 Maniacs are known for hits such as “More Than This,” “These Are Days,”” “Hey Jack Kerouac,” “What’s The Matter Here” and “Candy Everybody Wants.” The group first gained widespread recognition with 1987’s “In My Tribe,” which charted at No. 37, while its 1992 album, “Our Time in Eden,” sold more than three million copies.  The band will perform Feb. 1, 7:30 p.m.

Angelique KidjoOn Feb. 19, 7:30 p.m., singer-songwriter Angelique Kidjo will visit the Musikfest Café. Born in Benin, Kidjo got her start in the jazz/rock fusion band Jasper van’t Hof’s Pili Pili  and went on to become one of the most popular performers in Paris.  Her 1991 release, Logozo, hit No. 1 on the Billboard world music charts, and in 2008 she earned a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album for her recording Djin Djin. Over the years, Kidjo has performed and recorded with some of music’s biggest names, including Dave Matthews, Josh Groban, Carlos Santana, Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Peter Gabriel and Branford Marsalis.
