Local restaurants competed on January 26, 2013 for soup-supremacy to benefit the ArtsQuest’s Arts Education fund.
During the Souper Bowl, talented chefs from throughout the region showcased a variety of homemade soups while competing for the title of “Souper Bowl Champ.”
Judged Category Winners:
- Best Cream-based Soup: Rhode Island Crab & Clam Chowder – Hops Fogelsville Hotel
- Best Chowder: Spanish Crab Chowder – Vintage Restaurant & Bar
- Best Ethnic Soup: Thai Green Curry & Shrimp Soup – Cathy’s Creative Catering & Café
- Best Meat-based Soup: Pork Carnitas Chili Verde – Copperhead Grille
- Most Original Soup: Banana Berries Chambord – The Gander Room
- Best Vegetarian Soup: Roasted Apple Butternut Squash Soup – Iron Lakes Country Club
People’s Choice Winners:
- People’s Choice Souper Bowl Champion: Chicken & Mushroom Marsala Soup – Cathy’s Creative Catering & Café
- First Runner up: Thai Green Curry & Shrimp Soup – Cathy’s Creative Catering & Café
- Second Runner up: Banana Berries Chambord – The Gander Room
