Take a Day or two to explore the Delaware River by Canoe and be one with this part of America the Beautiful!

One of the most spectacular ways to see the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is on the water itself. Whether by canoe or kayak the scenery provides a magnificent sensory experience! Having recently canoed the stretch of river from Dingman’s Ferry to Smithfield Beach on a two day trip, overnighting just above the river bank I can attest to this being a gorgeous river run with some whitewater thrills, pristine water environment, and countless Eagles in flight above. For those that love the river, this is a must do water trip, that is so close to the Lehigh Valley!

Be prepared to enjoy nature immensely with a beautiful waterway, great rock and sand beaches along the way, unending flights of Osprey, Blue Heron, and the great American Eagle! In many spots ducks travel right along with you as Blue Heron watch from the shoreline. The water is at a pleasant temperature this time of year well into September and swimming spots are plentiful with an enormous rock where river goers stop for a jump off and plunge into the Delaware. Love to fish, drop your rod as you paddle along for even more pleasures of the great outdoors!
