The 9/11 Memorial Flag will be raised at the Sigal Museum on Tuesday, August 20, at 2:30 pm. Sigal Museum is located at 342 Northampton St., Easton.
This large 22’ by 32’ flag is comprised of nearly 3,000 American flags representing each victim of the tragedy at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93 site. It also contains flags representing the service organizations that participated in the recovery and rescue efforts and national flags from all countries that lost citizens.
It has been viewed by more than 6 million people throughout the United States, Canada, and Iraq. It was undertaken as a community project by volunteers led by Thomas McBrien from Bucks County, PA, and Hunterdon County, NJ, to promote healing for our nation and to support American troops in the war against terrorism.
The August 20 flag raising ceremony is free as a public service to the community by the Northampton County Historical & Genealogical Society and the Brown Lynch American Legion Post # 9 of Palmer Township. It will remain on exhibit through September 20 and is free with general museum admission.
Viewing of the flag is free to the public on September 11 as well.
